Question: Is Taking Chromium Picolinate With Creatine Monohydrate A Good Or Bad Thing?

Is taking Chromium Picolinate with Creatine Monohydrate a good or bad thing?

Answer #1

It is neither good nor bad. Chromium is an essential mineral that everyone needs to survive. Creatine usage will not affect it in any way. Chromium is essential for proper insulin functioning. Chromium Picolinate is a more bioactive version of chromium. Although there are some conflicting studies, most research suggests that chromium picolinate taken at a dosage of 200-600 mcg. daily will result in a modest increase in in lean body mass and decrease in fat over a period of months. It is probably the most over hyped supplement ever, but I take it considering that 90% of americans are deficient in it.

Answer #2

To my understanding Chromium Picolinate needs to be supplemented with a mineral called vanadium to be effective. Chromium works with vanadium for proper insulin manufacturing/absorption within the body. Buying both in a colloidal form is most effective with little side effects. It is about 95-98% absorbable where tablets are about 5-10% absorbable.
