I have been taking creatine in powder form for about 6 months. I have used many different brands and have taken food and also tried protein shakes with it, but it always upsets my stomach. Am I the only one?

No, you are not the only one. I have been taking creatine for about a month. I have tried to take it with protein shakes, grape juice, and even water. The only way it does not upset my stomach is if I take my dose over the day in about three to four different servings. I do not feel I am getting good results. I am going to try effervescent creatine.

From what I know, a great way to get over that problem is to drink a ton of water. I heard about a gallon a day. Creatine dehydrates you and it can cause stomach cramps when you are dehydrated. So, drink more water than you imagined you can consume!! I bet it will help!

Creatine gives me heartburn. I don't like the effect it has on my stomach.

Creatine only bothers me when during the loading phase, when I feel nauseated. I try to drink a lot of water which helps immensely. After the initial loading phase, my symptoms disappear as long as I don't take it first thing in the morning before food or if I forget to drink a lot of water. I am off of it now because my doctor said that it is really bad for the kidneys and messes up your testosterone levels.

I've noticed that creatine gives me a lot of gas. The way I get rid of that is to take creatine with food or drink lots of water/juice.
