Is it better to take creatine powder or caplets when you start using creatine?

I'm new with creatine also, but what I've heard is that it's the same thing except for that you get more creatine for your money with powder (5g per tsp.). Pills are more and they give you less creatine (my pills were, 3 pills 3g). My opinion (which is one from a beginner) would be go with the powder.
