Question: I Want To Know The Risks Associated With Creatine Use Because My Mom Won't Let Me Take It.

I would like to know the long term and short term heath risks to creatine? I am doing a research project for heath class. The reason I pick the subject is because I am a football player and I lift a lot of weights and I always want to know the risk factors anyway because my mom wont let me take it so it's my chance to see if there is any heath risks to creatine. It would be great if you could send me a lot of information about creatine, the facts and myths (please not advertisements). I need health risks to creatine, facts, and myths. What is it made of? How does it work? Basically, all the information like what it is made of and that sort of stuff. Thank You If you could get me this information, please, that would be great.

I recently did a report on creatine and found that there are no side effects that have been reported in medical literature. Many things about cramping and things like that have been overblown and are false. I am also a football player and am very interested about creatine.

If you take it like this, you will have no side effects. If you weigh 160 or under, do not take 20 grams a day during the loading period (more is not always better). If you do, it can mess up your kidneys. Take 5 grams twice a day (after you work out). When on creatine, drink at least 1 gallon of water or you will get cramps and it won't make you any bigger (muscle wise). Then when you go into maintenance, take only 3 grams a day. If you weigh over 160, take 20 grams for the loading period (5-7 days) and 10 grams for maintenance (the rest of the time). Also, cycle it (be on it for 3 weeks, then off 2 weeks ,then start the loading period again). This is my suggestion, hope this helps .

I have been using creatine for the past 2 months. I am a football player also. I have not noticed any side effects. I take creatine twice a day, once before I work out, and once after. I use a special kind of creatine which has dextrose and is mixable with just water. It has some kind of Kool-Aid type of stuff. The key is to work out and take the creatine daily or you will see no results. I have increased my size dramatically and also my strength. Most importantly, make sure you follow the directions on the label.

P.S. I hope your mom will let you use it now!
