Question: Is There Any Natural Way To Remove Creatine From The Blood To Prevent Kidney Damage?

My father-in-law's doctors say he has too much creatine in his blood and his kidneys are suffering. Is there any natural way to remove creatine from the blood?

Answer #1

The doctor was probably talking about creatinine, not creatine. Creatinine is a molecule excreted by the kidneys. It is measured in the blood as a monitor of kidney function. It is not often the cause of the kidney damage, just a measure of the kidney's function. Creatine is metabolized to creatinine so it would not be a good idea for your father in law to use a creatine supplement but there is no need to try to remove it either unless his kidneys were bad enough to need dialysis.
