Question: Effervescent Creatine Is Great Because You Don't Have To Drink So Much Water, But Does It Have Any Side Effects?

Everyone is telling the side effects that they got from creatine monohydrate. I have a question about effervescent creatine. With creatine monohydrate, it sits in your system waiting to be absorbed by enough water. If it isn't, you get cramps. Supposedly, in an effervescent state, creatine molecules are immediately broken down in water for ease of digestion and almost immediate absorption into the bloodstream. You don't have to drink large amounts of liquids to absorb effervescent creatine because it supposedly is absorbed almost immediately. This gets rid of the stomach discomfort and "the runs," but does it have any other side-effects? That's my question. If anyone who takes effervescent creatine has experienced any side effects or knows anyone who has please reply. I'd like to know if what I'm taking is safe. Thanks.

Answer #1

I've tried at least three different types/brands of creatine, my first being a very grainy brand that really never dissolved in water. With this one, I found that I had to continue to put more and more water in to get all the grains off the bottom of the cup. After being annoyed enough by the sandy texture of this brand, I started taking another powder that had slightly finer grains. I found that this one was better than the previous brand, but still had quite an annoying feel. However, both of the times I got checked out at the doctor while taking these brands, I passed with no problems.

Recently I went for another physical, three days after I started using Creatine Fizz Fuel, a brand of effervescent creatine. This time I was told I had protein in my urine. So honestly, I don't think it has any strange side effects. It's still creatine, but you should still drink as much water as you would with normal creatine. Don't let the fact that you aren't forced to put a little more water into the cup stop you from drinking enough water. If you stay hydrated while taking any type of creatine, you should be fine.

A little note on the side: The effervescent creatine often will have an "uptake" system that allows your body to absorb it faster, so look into the uptake system as the cause of any side effects.
