Consumer Review: My Boyfriend Turned Violent After Mixing Creatine With Alcohol.

My boyfriend started taking creatine a few weeks ago and I was not aware of it. The other night he drank a lot of alcohol and turned violent. It was completely out of character for him since I have know him for over a year. He went to a doctor and was told that the creatine may have not reacted well with the alcohol. He has since thrown it away and stopped taking it. He claims that he does feel better than what he has been lately. I keep reading how great it is and how there are no side effects but why would his doctor blame it on the creatine? Is there little known about additional side effects or are these just kept hidden by the drug companies marketing them?

I'm so glad I found this web site. My boyfriend is in total denial. He's 37, and in GREAT shape. He cycles on and off creatine every few months. I've been seeing him for about 5 months and never really paid attention to when he was and wasn't taking it. I'm almost positive that he was off for a couple months, and those months were bliss. He just cycled back on a few weeks ago, and I can't bear to be with him. I truly love this guy, but I don't know what to do. He hasn't become violent, but he is SO mean.

I am on my second cycle of creatine in a year, and have yet to experience side effects. I drink somewhere on the order of 3 times a week, getting really drunk every month or so, and have never had an episode. Maybe your boyfriend is a bit of a violent drunk.

I think your boyfriend would be better off throwing away the alcohol than the creatine. Alcohol is much worse for you than creatine.

As far as the creatine making him angry, (I don't think sooooo). Maybe because he is lifting more and feels stronger, I think it's going to his head luv. O.K.

I have taken Creatine since junior year of high school, and now am a freshman in college. Just from this year alone, I have had my fair share of drinks and am still on creatine. I have never been a violent person when I drink and I weight lift 4-5 times a week. Have a talk with this dude to get back on creatine and off the bottle for a while.

Hey, I was told not to take caffeine or alcohol while on creatine by my trainer. I listened to him and I stopped taking creatine a week before a huge party. Although you only lose 2% of the creatine you took in externally a day.

I drink a lot and take creatine every day. I've never had a problem with becoming violent. Some people are just violent drunks. Creatine is nothing more than a compound within the muscle structure. It has no effect on psychological processes. Lifting does however, cause an increase in testosterone, which is probably his problem. Next time he gets violent I'd say just kick him in the jimmy.

Response #8

I am sure that you are experiencing an alcoholic, or violent drunk. There is no way that what your boyfriend experienced is from the creatine. He needs to moderate his drinking so that he is not so drunk to where he has to be a belligerent drunken animal. Creatine makes me horny not mad.
