Consumer Review: I Am A 16 Year Old Football Player. Here Is My Experience With Creatine.

This is just my personal account of my experience with creatine monohydrate. I'm 16 and play football for my high school team. Now I don't follow the dosage and take only less than what they say. I didn't even load cuz I was unsure of the stuff in the first place. But I needed something to give me a little boost cuz I am undersized and could use some help. Most all of my teammates use the stuff and they have no problems but I don't know how they use it or when. I just put a table spoon in my drink at lunch anytime I have time to or remember. To be honest I feel like I have more energy at practice when I take it and am not as tired either. I just use some when I can and know better than to use anymore than I feel is unhealthy for me. Especially with such a new drug anyway.

If you're using pure Creatine, a tablespoon a day is actually a little too much. 2-5g, which is about a teaspoon, is reasonable.

Response #2

Regarding creatine side effects: 3 years ago I was using creatine and not drinking 1/4 as much water as I should have. I tore a hamstring a month later playing football. There was some over speed issues, but for the most part it was due to dehydration. I swore never to touch the stuff.

Enter Y2K: A little bit older and a ton wiser. Nowadays, I supplement with creatine. I drink tons of water. I mean a lot. I'm always drinking on a 32oz cup at all times. The result? I love creatine. I have more endurance and I recover easier from brutal workouts (the heavy days).

As you see, it was more a matter of doing the right thing and helping the supplement help you. When I hear the horror stories, I wonder how these people were dosing (I don't load...I use the normal dose for my weight) and if they were drinking enough water. More is not better unless you're talking about water.
