Consumer Review: My Son Has Become "Hell" To Live With Since He Started Taking Creatine.

I have a son that has started taking Creatine. Can I ask you all this question? Does it altar your moods??? He has been "Hell" to live with lately. He gets mad at the drop of a hat. He has only been drinking it for a week and his moods have started about 5 days ago. After reading the comments here, I regret I ever allowed him to do this.

He is 6ft, very athletic and he only weighs 162. He has already been accepted to colleges to play football and baseball with the body makeup he has, but he won't just accept the fact he isn't done growing yet. He is hurrying up the process. I am scared. He is so talented, and what will he have if this stuff "messes" him up...nothing. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I am not a typical stereotype mom. He and I are best friends. I am a young mom who tries not to frown on new things or deter him from them, but this sh-- scares me. Thanks.

I've been on creatine for a year or so, and I don't think that it has messed with my mind in the slightest, besides the fact that I'm a little more confident due to my increased muscle mass. I am 17 years old, 5'11" and around 165, so we share the same general body composition. It may be that your son is getting a little cocky now that he's going to play baseball and football in college, and thinks he's the "big man on campus." I've seen it around my school and it sounds like a kid I know. I think that the only problem here is your son's attitude, not the creatine. I hope that this helps you and your son.

Response #2

Creatine has NOT been shown to affect a person's temper or moods. I am taking creatine myself and I know many friends who have taken it, and none of them have reported such side effects. I think that your son's anger, irritability, or violent temper could be caused by the use of something else because creatine should NOT have such side effects.

Response #3

Hi. I read your comment about your son and creatine. I've been taking creatine for a while now, and it doesn't do anything to my moods. It only helps the building of muscle. It sounds like he has something else going on other than creatine that can cause the mood swings. Something else is affecting him, not creatine. Take a closer look at him and consult a doctor.

I have been taking creatine for about a month now and I have a lot of mood swings since taking it. It has helped me dramatically gain in muscle mass and power. It's a wonderful supplement, but it does make you less tolerant of people. It makes you sort of cocky as well.

Who ever wrote response #2 needs to recheck their information. Please support your findings with some medical proof (which you will be unable to do because there is no proof). Creatine is too new of a product to be jumping to any unfounded conclusions. Remind me again what Creatine is. It is a PRODUCT and the manufactures of this product hate people like me bad mouthing there substance. Neither they (the manufactures) or you (the consumer) ever hear of the stuff being the cause of such behavior. The reason you don't hear anything bad about the product is due to the company's lawyers. They know what's going on and do not want the public to know. Anyhow, just be careful where you get your "final conclusions" from and if you do make a final decision, research it and provide the rest of us with your medical findings.

First off, I have taken all different types of supplements. Creatine put me in a good mood because I was getting better results out of the gym. You never know thou it could be causing it.

Response #7

It sounds as if your son is on something else. Mood swings are usually brought on by something else, very typical in the young generation of athletics. Have a blood test done. It will show up. Used unsupervised, it is dangerous to his heart and health.

Response #8

Well, I feel that all you panty wastes are all crazy. I have probably made more muscle than all of you on creatine. First off, why put something in your body that could be bad. When you put the time in and work hard you will get results from eating right and working out hard. No doubt it does work, but let's be serious. How are you gonna feel 40 years from now when your kidneys or something else is shot? I think the creatine gives you all a big head.

Response #9

What I want to say is that you shouldn't say creatine definitely does this or that. More research is needed in all areas concerning creatine. Creatine's effect on someone doesn't mean that it is going to act the same way to everybody. Do not be so strict and jump to conclusions when what you write is based on personal beliefs and hasn't been backed up with well controlled research. Writing down your own experience does help a lot, but please don't be so absolute in your opinion.

I know what you are talking about. My husband has been taking creatine off and on for at least 2 years. He has been an ass to live with and is very moody and unpredictable. We bought a huge, nice home that was the home of our dreams. Three weeks later he asked for divorce. We will be speaking with the attorney tomorrow. I have tried to tell him it's the creatine, protein shakes, herbs, and alcohol, but he won't listen. Please anybody help me!
