| I'm 25 and I have never had any health problems before using creatine. About 2 years ago, I started using creatine. After about 8 or 9 months, I developed a 13mm kidney stone which is fairly large. I went through 4 months of pain before I realized what was wrong. It took four weeks and lots of pain before it was over.
I did not think creatine caused the stone so I started taking it again about 4 months later. This time I drank even more water than before. A few months later I developed another stone. This time I was able to pass it without $12,000 in operations. I stopped taking creatine and it has been about 7 months and I have no kidney pain at all. On the other hand, my brother has taken it for years and has had no problems.

How much were you taking? What happened to your body when you stopped taking it? Did you lose the muscle mass? Is it lean muscle mass or just size?
How did your brother's body react? How much mass did he put on?

There are many brands of creatine products. Each one contains many things beside the creatine. Any part of the brand selected can be a toxin. It can be toxic from the first time it is taken or it can develop into a toxin later. Learning how to muscle test correctly is an effective way to select brands that have a high compatibility with your body. It would have to be checked before you start taking it and every few days while you are taking it. A good marker would be 85% compatibility or better. Anything under 80% should be avoided.
