Question: I Weigh 400 Pounds And Need To Lose Weight Fast. Will Supplements Help?

Hi, all my life I have been overweight. I am currently 6'5", 400+ lbs. I want to lose weight. I currently do 20 minutes of step aerobics 7 days a week in the morning before I eat. I also lift weights approximately 5 - 7 days a week. I currently do not use any supplements.

I am losing weight, but not at the speed I would like. My goal is to lose the "fat look" and get really bulked up and muscular looking. Am I doing it the right way? Should I be taking any supplements and, if so, which ones will help me lose weight the fastest? Actually, I guess that is really my goal. Long term, I want to be really muscular and bulked up, but short term I just want to get my weight down. I want to fit into normal size clothes. So I guess my most important question to you is what type of supplements will help me to lose as much weight as quickly as I can? Thank you for your help.

I can tell you from experience that weight loss comes with muscle building. But I think you are over working yourself. You will get results faster by working out every other day, rather than every day. The reason why your muscles get stronger is because when you curl a ten pound weight, for example, you are tearing your biceps. So you muscles get smart and they rebuild a little stronger. So by working out every day you're not letting your muscles rebuild fully. If you feel as if you're cheating your self by not working out every day or feel like you are wasting time try this: one day, concentrate on your lower body and the next day your upper body.

You're being smart by doing aerobics. This gets your heart rate up and contributes to weight loss as well as conditioning your heart.

If you want to take supplements I would recommend staying with natural supplements. I am currently taking Twinlab's Ultra Fuel. It contains Carbs, Vitamins B-1, B-2, B-3, and C, Potassium and Magnesium. This will increase endurance, performance and decreases recovery rate. You can get this at GNC and I think Kroger Has it too, but I'm not sure.

I was never very overweight, but still not close to what I wanted to be. All you really need is to exercise regularly. It took me about 3 years of roller blading for 2 hours a day 6 days a week, to get from chubby to mediocre...not skinny. And from there I started working out. I used Prolab Cuts 2, a anti-water retention/fat burner, completely safe, nothing but herbs and simple amino acids, and it has helped. They now have many more fat burners, like Thermogenic Cuts 3. While using any, remember it is good to sweat, this burns fat even faster, wrestlers commonly work out and exercise wit garbage bags under their cloths to keep their body heat up and drop weight. Hope to be some help.

Yes supplements will help. I am currently a wrestler at Reed-Custer high school. I have used diet fuel and in a little more than a month I lost 20 lbs and am still loosing it. I train hard and run as much as possible. I cut back on high calorie intake. I eat about one bag of cut carrots a week. You can loose the weight if you put your mind to it and don't cheat by eating high amounts of calories once you have started your diet plan.

Did you know that doing aerobic exercises may not change your appearance one bit unless you run or jog 30 miles a day! I would recommend doing anaerobic exercises, and yes supplements do work in my personal opinion. If you have no heart condition, it's OK to take hydroxycut. This will suppress your appetite and give you energy, but you will have to drink A LOT OF WATER since you weigh 400+ lbs. But ask your doctor before taking it because I don't know your health condition.

Answer #5

Supplements only help if you stay consistent at your work out. If you're overweight and you eat more then you exercise, I advise you not to take it because you need to work out, in return for burning out the supplement. My friends have experience where their stomach got larger because it was all building up in their abs. Also, there has been experience with increased breast size with males and (sorry girls) I don't know if it does the same with females.

Supplements will definitely give the EDGE that you need in order to help you achieve your goals. Remember though, that if you've been overweight most of your life, it WILL take time for you to lose the weight in a healthy way. You don't want to sacrifice your health for "fast results," which in the long run will make you unhealthy.

As far as the person in #4, how in the world do you justify your statement that aerobic exercise does not help with weight loss? This is absurd! While ultimately the more muscle you have, the more fat you will burn, you need to remember the following: The more oxygen you get in your system, the more efficiently you will burn fat. Your HEART is a muscle, and in order for your heart to efficiently pump oxygen-rich blood through your body, you need to give this muscle a good work out. How would you give your heart the exercise it needs? By doing cardio of course. Ask any doctor and see if they will tell you that cardio does not help with weight loss.

As far as supplements are concerned, there are a multitude from which to choose. The one that works FOR ME is Xenadrine. Always consult your doctor before taking any supplements. And remember that not setting realistic goals will only deter you from staying motivated. It will take a long time to achieve your goals, but the time spent will be well worth it. As someone who has been overweight all his life, I can attest to what is written above. Since I started working out 4 months ago, I have lost 30lbs and this is great. And remember, the closer you get to your goal, the slower your weight loss will be. So don't sweat it (figuratively speaking of course). All power to you my friend and happy weight loss. Good luck and keep it up!
