Consumer Review: Glucosamine And Chondroitin Plus MSM Helped The Aches, Swelling And Joint Pain From My Arthritis.

I have a long history of arthritis and cervical and lumbar disk disease. I'm allergic to aspirin, which rules out any arthritis drug on the market. I started to take a glucosamine-chondroitin supplements almost two years ago now. It took nearly 8 weeks for me to see a difference, but my hands stopped hurting, the swelling went away, and I felt less achy overall. My knees stopped hurting, and I was able to sit and get out of a chair without experiencing pain.

My joints still hurt, so I continued to read about natural supplements. I read a book about MSM and decided to give it a try. About this time I tested positive for rheumatoid arthritis, although my doctor wasn't convinced of this because my SED rate was not high enough in his opinion. I had read that glucosamine would help osteoarthritis, but not rheumatoid arthritis, so I started to take MSM. I started with one 750 mg capsule three times a day and gradually worked up to 6 capsules a day. I couldn't believe it! My body stopped aching, I certainly had less pain, and I was sleeping through the night for the first time in a very long time. My asthma and allergies improved too.

I've been taking MSM for almost a year, along with the glucosamine-chondroitin. I am wondering about the effects of glucosamine on LDL levels. I was told that it raises LDL, and mine is 197, but it was high before. Is there any truth to that claim? This is my last resort for pain relief and I don't want to stop taking it.
