MSM

I have osteoarthritis since age 32, I'm now 53. For 5 yrs I've taken Glucosamine/Chondroitin - with relief - however, if it causes falsely raised cholesterol, and other strange side effects - which I may have had and blamed on PM, menopause, and diabetes - I may want to try something else and see if I feel better.
Several questions: What dose of MSM worked for you? How long did it take to get relief? Do you know if MSM has any bad interactions with other supplements and drugs - of which I am taking many - trying now to sort them out - and only take what works without too many side effects and false labs. Thanks.

I have not used MSM for arthritis, but have used it for general health and cleansing. Simply put, MSM is the best supplement I have ever used. You read so many testimonials about vitamins working miracles only to find that they don't work for you. MSM is the real thing. I have read elsewhere that 1,000 mg of MSM per 30 pounds of body weight is an effective dose. BEWARE! Do not start out taking this much MSM. It is a powerful cleanser, and you will end up with a "detox effect." I often experience a headache if I take too much too soon. I suggest starting with 500-1,000 mg a day and working your way up to a comfortable dose. I have taken as much as 6,000-8,000 mg a day, but I am very heavy. Be prepared for detox symptoms. MSM will do wonders in improving your general health because it helps to cleanse the liver. One reasonably priced brand I have used is Now Foods.
Good luck to those who try this great supplement!
