Question: How Much MSM Should I Take To Treat Chronic Sinusitis?

I have chronic sinusitis. I have been to an allergy clinic and to a sinus clinic. Nobody can find the cause. My family doctor suspects that I have an allergy to something that they just don't test for. MSM was recommended to try. I don't know how much to take. I am also taking a multi vitamin, 800 mg of vitamin E, and 3 grams of vitamin c each day. Do you have any information or suggestions? Thanks.

Gail

Dear Gail,

I too have severe allergies, namely to certain foods and dust mites. I have done a bit of research on the net in regard to MSM. I suggest that you have a look at msm.com and msm-uk.net. Both are quite informative and have links to other sites. From what I understand, MSM is about as toxic as water, so it's very safe. I have just started to take it myself so am waiting to see what happens. I've read a lot of various testimonials from people where MSM has changed their lives for the better.

If you want to try it out, I suggest taking it in powder form as this is the most cost effective way of taking this supplement. Start with 1000mg/quarter of a tea spoon twice a day for a week. Then gradually build the measurements up to about 4000mg/1 teaspoon twice a day. This is the course of action that I'm taking. I also see a leading nutritionist/allergy specialist who is interested to see what happens in me taking MSM. They didn't suggest it. I'm trying it because I don't necessarily want to have desensitization shots for the next 10 years. I hope I have helped you in some way. Good luck

Yours Sincerely,
Michael
