Question:

Should I Drink My Protein Shakes Before Or After I Work Out?

Hello and thanks for reading...very cool website. When should protein shake be consumed? Before my workout or after? Sounds silly I know, but I only can afford one a day (whey protein), and heard both before and after. I would think after is best and maybe a smaller carb meal before for energy using both simple and complex carbs. What do ya think? Thanks.

I also thought about taking both Soy and Whey proteins because of all the benefits both have? After reading the horror stories on here about creatine, mine is going in the trash!

Answer #1

After your workout is best, especially within 15 minutes after, and consume it with a simple carb source. I prefer Gatorade or fruit juice. This will give your body what it needs to start rebuilding itself for your next session.

Answer #2

About half an hour to an hour after you work out would be best, but no longer than two hours because that will slow down your recovery. Also try to get more carbs, because those are just as important.
