Saw Palmetto

I am curious to know if you are aware of any nutritional supplements that contain 5AR inhibitors? I have read from a web site that there are supplements that exist for this. 5AR is an enzyme that has been identified as one of the main culprits of male patter baldness.

If there are any supplements which will help, it will be Saw Palmetto Extract. This can be purchased at any local health food store in the section where the herbal formulas are sold. Studies have shown saw palmetto to be very effective in selectively inhibiting the effects of 5-alpha-reductase. The most commonly cited dosage in studies on saw palmetto is 320mg daily.

The following herbs are believed to help treat baldness:
- 160mg twice daily of Saw Palmetto (standardized to 85-95 % fatty acids & sterols);
- Green Tea (capsules or tea form)
- Pygeum - 60 -500mg per day (13% beta sterol count)
- Stinging nettle enhances the effects of pygeum
- Zinc Picolinate <60mg per day
