Question: What Is Serotril And Does It Burn Fat?

I received a brochure about Serotril saying that it is a tiny plant molecule that causes safe spontaneous weight loss. Has anybody used it? What are the side effects? Any information about Serotril is appreciated.

Answer #1

I have done quite a bit of research on Serotril and talked with people who purchased the product. The thing the brochure does NOT say is that Serotril is simply Hypercin Perforatum, more commonly known as St. John's Wort. In addition, the brochure does NOT mention that they recommend a STRICT low-carb diet in conjunction with taking Serotril. They recommend only 20 grams of carbohydrates a day, which is ridiculously low (a glass of orange juice has more carbs than that!).

First, let's get more of mystery behind the program out of the way. The Serotril program consists of two pills, The first, Serotril "A" which contains 300mg of Hypercin (St. John's Wort) and 5mg of Inositol, a family of B complex. The second pill is Serotril "B" which consists of 100 mg Pantothenic Acid, another complex of vitamin B. You take one Serotril A with breakfast, and one Serotril A and one Serotril B with lunch. Since these are merely St. John's Wort and different complexes of vitamin B, right off you see that you can duplicate the "Serotril" formula quite easily at ANY local health food store (and probably MUCH CHEAPER).

From what I gather, St. John's Wort is supposed to work as a substitute for the fine feeling you get after eating meals high in carbohydrates (which raise your serotonin levels). St. John's Wort is an anti-depressant, thus it gives you a nice feeling of well-being which allows you to adhere to their strict all meat-cheese-veggies diet plan.

Restricting carbohydrates for a length of time will certainly make you lose weight -- with or WITHOUT Serotril. This is the classic Ketogenic Diet. Cut out carbs and your body starts metabolizing fat like crazy; at a pretty high price. This is the famous Atkins Diet that killed quite a few people in the 70's.

If you do decide to do the "Serotril" thing see your doctor first and get a pack of Ketosticks. These are test strips that will tell you if your body is producing too much ketone. High ketone levels can lead to acid ketosis, a very dangerous potentially fatal condition which leads to liver damage, heart damage, etc.. (Ketosticks are also available over the counter at most well supplied pharmacies.)

Okay, now here are my TWO CENTS: You'd do much better on a lower calorie diet combined with a weight training regime. Even more than cardio/aerobic workouts, weight training not only burns incredible amounts of calories, but the resulting surge of testosterone that comes with this type of exercise will improve your mood.

Good luck, cheers!

In the information I received on Serotril it talked about the St. John's Wort. I already take this to help me keep a balance on life. I've been on a low carb diet, and there are a lot of recipes out there that are low in carbs http://www.mymenus.com/Bnutr20.html. Water and sugar free tang is about it on the liquid department.

The Serotril system will refund your money if you are unhappy with the results. So, don't knock it until you try it. It could actually work.

Answer #2

Ads for this Serotril are everywhere and people waste billions of dollars trying to loose weight. The only way is to eat less, drink 8 glasses of h2o daily, eat sensible, and exercise. There are no magic potions, only people waiting to suck up your money with every gimmick possible. It took me half my life to figure that out but at last I am called skinny not whale!

This site is great and informative, thanks.

Answer #3

The pamphlet on Serotril claims it is Hypericum Perforatum. I believe that is Saint John's Wort. It also contain Rhodiola Rosea. At $29.95 decides for yourself if it is worth it. The pamphlet doesn't give potency. I hope this information helps you.

Answer #4

I purchased some Serotril. I didn't lose weight. I gained weight

Answer #5

I ordered Serotril from Serotril Sciences in Las Vegas. When I received the product and realized that it required an extremely low carbohydrate diet to work, I returned the product for their advertised money back guarantee. I returned the product to them by registered mail last October. I still have not received a refund. Have others also been ripped off by this company?

Response #1 To Answer #5

I purchased some Serotril and it did not work. I sent the unused portion back and have still not received my money back. I sent it back within my 60 day time limit. I have my receipt copies and if I don't hear something soon I am going to contact The Better Business Bureau.

Response #2 To Answer #5

I bought Serotril and it did not work! I returned my bottle and have been waiting for my refund for 5 months. If anyone has the 1-800 number to this company, please let me know.

Thanks,
stephanie

Answer #6

I was very pleased with the Serotril eating plan. The information I read before I bought Serotril explained the plan, ie 20g carbs daily. I had no problems with the plan whatsoever. If you need to shed 15 to 25 lbs, like I did, and you exercise 30 or more min a day, well, this plan is great. Plus, I realized just how much white bread and refined carbs I consumed in a day---too much. It worked for me.

Answer #7

Hello Everyone,

I was finally doing some research to check into the pill program that I had purchased and I am glad that I found this website answering questions on this program. I can honestly say that it was a complete waste of money and I was not the only one to try it. My mother and girlfriend also tried this and have had no luck. In fact, they have both done much better on programs like Weight Watchers and I have gone back to weight lifting. To everyone out there, it may work for you, but just remember that it seems to come down to if you eat moderately and exercise daily you'll probably be OK.

Good luck to all.

Answer #8

Not quite the Atkins diet. In the serotril info, all fruits are free food plus 20 carbs a day. In reality this makes the carb intake much higher than 20 and helps replace refined sugar with some natural sugar which helps a lot. Thanks for the guide about what it is so I can get some without having all my money leave me. This does work and I feel better every day.

Answer #9

I tried to Serotril to lose those "5 pounds" and it worked. I also lost a lot of inches. I did reduce the amount of carbs but do exceed the 20g limit, otherwise the amount lost might be greater but I did not need to lose a lot to start with. The upside of this product is that it does not contain ephra/epidrine whereas most others (Metabolife) do.

Answer #10

I am so glad I found this web site. The pamphlet I received on Serotril sure sounded convincing, but I knew it was too good to be true. Sure must have cost them a lot to produce this pamphlet. Thanks for all your responses. I'm not going to order it.

Rose J.

Answer #11

Thank you the information was very informative. I was able to save money prior to trying this product. Had I not read the information and solely went on the information I read from a magazine on Serotril, I feel I would have lost money. Thank you for giving more in depth information that the magazine did not give.

Answer #12

WOW !!! I am so glad I found this web site--you have saved me lots of money! Everyone must remember that there is NO pill in the world that can make you lose weight without a good diet, exercise and plenty of water. Thanks again.

Answer #13

I was thinking about ordering this "miracle drug" to loose the weight that I've put on since I quit smoking 2 years ago, and after reading all the negative feedback on the page I'm going to throw my pamphlet away right now!!

Thanks again,
Mary

Answer #14

It really pays to read the web. I am very glad I found this page. I was thinking about buying the product Serotril, but decided to do a little research. I will not purchase the product, but will go back to "sugar busters". It is a low-carbohydrate plan that worked for me once. I will try it again. Thanks for revealing your opinions.

Answer #15

I had my Serotril brochure in one hand and the phone to order it in the other hand, but my hesitation came when I re-read the pamphlet and there was just too much hype for me to feel comfortable, so I jumped on the internet to research it and was directly routed to this page. Everyone's comments re-iterated again to me that it really does just take a modification of your eating habits and exercise to lose the weight SAFELY and CORRECTLY! There is no miracle drug. Please do not make these scam artists richer and us poorer for falling for their hyped up/overpriced/ridiculous schemes!!! Good Luck to all other dieters out there!

Answer #16

My mother in law is in her 60's, overweight, and on several prescribed medications. She had mentioned this diet and I decided to look it up on the net. First, she is on an anti-depressant already (prescribed) and a mild nerve pill too. When I called to tell her that it is not recommended for her, she had mailed her check that morning. Good for her that she could cancel payment as this could have been a major catastrophe for this woman's health. Lesson here: Knowledge is power and you can never get enough.

Thanks for letting me share this.

Answer #17

Just a quick thanks to everyone for the "real" scoop about this "miracle" (not) product. I was all ready to make that call and order when I looked up the name on the computer. Now I am better equipped to attack this weight problem at my local pharmacy or health food store for much less money. Again, a million thanks for your input!

Answer #18

I was going to order Serotril today. After reading this web site I've changed my mind. I also gained a lot of weight after I quite smoking 2 years ago, and hoped to find something to help me with the carb carvings. I guess this isn't it. Thanks everybody!

Rose M.

Answer #19

I am so glad I searched this site. I was taking prescription diet pills six months ago, I thought it was great. I lost 31 lbs in 3 months. but it quit working. I searched the net and discovered it reaches its full effect in 8-12 weeks. So I went off of them and waited 3 months. I went back on them and nothing has happened. I seen an article for Serotril and thought I would try it. Now I'm not sure. One nutra grain bar has 27 g's of carbs and they want you to only have 20! Please!!!! I guess I'll go the old fashioned route with less fat and exercise, because it did keep those 31 lbs off for three months and I lost 9 more. So it must be the real way to go. Thank you.

Answer #20

I am thankful that we checked the web (our personal library) about Serotril. My wife read the beautifully put together ad on this "wonder drug" and immediately was convinced that "God had given her an easy way out!". I have worked in my college days as a fitness trainer, and I have watched in the past few years people using medical methods to lose weight. While science has truly helped our weight gain/loss, it is not the only answer.

For all of you that desperately need to lose weight fast--here it is. Eat healthy to become healthy. Exercise to become thinner. I recommend treadmill treadmill treadmill!!! There's no easy way. You know what it took to gain it...now put the effort into losing it!! Isn't it interesting how we'll spend 3 hours in a hot kitchen cooking, 1 hour eating, but won't take 45 minutes to make our bodies healthy? Then we get angry at ourselves when we look in the mirror or go shopping and realize that all of the things we like are too small. Thank all of you for confirming my feelings and suspicions about Serotril. Off to the gym!!

Answer #21

I received the beautifully designed brochure about Serotril and I'm sure like millions of other Americans for a few moments I thought "WOW" finally a answer to my prayers. I could finally become the tall, thin, socially accepted, gorgeous individual that is trapped under all of this bulk! Then I did some research, guess what? This is just another way to try and pry hard earned dollars out of our gullible, looking for the "quick fix" hands.

I have fought with my weight my entire life and unfortunately I must admit I have fallen prey to these "quick fix" ideas before, but, no more! Ladies and Gentlemen I'm here to tell you the only answer to being not overweight is to watch your eating habits, drink plenty of water, and here it comes that terrible word, exercise! If you are "hell bent" on spending money for weight loss, use it to join a gym!

Answer #22

First, after reading many comments, I am convinced that the Serotril program is just another scam to 'get' those who would rather take a pill than to discipline themselves in their eating and/or exercise habits. I do not believe there is an easy way to lose weight. It takes work. The one who wrote that she was pleased with the plan said she exercised 30 minutes a day. I did that and lost 15 pounds in 6 weeks WITHOUT Serotril, and without putting money in someone else's pocket. Are you willing to do it? Second, notice that one reader said she bought the product from Serotril Sciences in Las Vegas. The 800 number seems to belong to a NEW address in Canada. Moved the company out of the country, huh? Very suspicious.

Answer #23

Thanks, thanks, to all who have put this information out to the public. I was going to order and something told me to use the net. Now I know what I must do. Watch what I eat, drink the water and dust off the bike. Thanks once again.

Answer #24

I've used Serotril and been VERY pleased!! I lost 10 pounds and have been able to keep them off. I only take the pills about every three days.

Answer #25

I tried Serotril in February of 1999 and I stayed on the program for two months. I lost 15 pounds and went off the program. Unfortunately I have gained the weight back. I search this web site to find the number so that I may order Serotril again. I plan to stay on the program again for two months then keep a low carb. diet with reduced fats and exercise to keep the weight off. I believe the program is good for those who need to lose weight quick. This products does work!!!

Answer #26

After reading several of your comments, I really gained an insight about these weight loss gimmicks. They're all baits to us fools and they really don't work!! The majority of the responses were unfavorable to the Serotril product in particular, and weight loss pills in general. I was a fool to fall for this gimmick and ordered it; but have since regretted it. I've been in search for the toll free number to call to get a reimbursement and have not found one, but thanks for providing the number and address on the web. I really appreciate reading these comments and wish I had researched this product earlier. I would not have ordered this crap!!! HOPE THE SEROTRIL TEAM READS ALL THESE COMMENTS!!

Answer #27

Thanks for the great information. It verifies what years of reading and dieting have taught me. Eat a low calorie, low-carb diet, drink 8 glasses of water a day, exercise daily and have a weight training regimen. Also take vitamins. They are really important. I am going to try the St. John's Wort in the tea bags to reduce carbohydrate craving and to maintain emotional stability. Thanks everyone! Great Input.

Answer #28

I bought Serotril and it did not work! I returned my bottle and have been waiting for my refund for 5 months. I've been calling for the past two months and I have yet to speak to anyone. I really don't think any of us will be receiving a refund, but I will keep trying.

Answer #29

I have just received this serotril ad in my mail today and I thought, what the heck, let's see if there is anything on the darn computer about it. Boy, am I glad I did. This computer is the best investment I have with my money instead of giving it away to these people out there who proclaim such nonsense about having the "miracle pill" that will help you to lose weight! The only thing these people will help you to lose is a lot of your hard earned money! Take the wonderful advice from the above.

Answer #30

I am sorry so many people have such negative things to say about Serotril because, in combination with the Atkins diet, it is the only way I have ever been able to REALLY lose weight--and stay healthy, by the way.

For example, before going on the Atkins diet almost 2 years ago, I had a physical examination. I was 30 pounds overweight and my cholesterol was over 300. When I told my doctor that I planned to go on the Atkins diet, he highly recommended it and said that he had been on it for years and that he felt it was a very healthy diet, especially when you eat mostly vegetables (which, by the way, give you the roughage you need because you stop eating bread), chicken, and fish.

To make a long story short, at the same time I started the Atkins diet, I began taking Serotril and exercising daily, and the weight really started coming off. In 1 month, my cholesterol was normal, and in 6 months I lost 30 pounds and was in a much healthier condition. Although I am still on the Atkins diet and always will be, for some reason the weight comes off faster when I am taking Serotril.

In short: I think the Atkins diet in combination with Serotril and exercise is the easiest and healthiest way to lost weight and, further, that Serotril, contrary to what some of these people say, cannot be replicated unless you have the ability to "reverse-engineer" it accurately (I know this because I work for a pharmaceutical company). Also, I might mention that Serotril has always been located in Canada for as long as I ever ordered it and probably just has an office now in Las Vegas.

One final thing: With regard to those "low fat" diets that people claim are healthier and work better--I say humbug! I tried those diets literally for years, and believe me, they do not work, especially in the long run. For one thing, they always leave you hungry, which means that it is impossible to stick with these types of diets in the long run and you eventually gain any weight you lost back.

In summary, I would recommend that one read the Atkins book and try that diet (focusing on eating a lot of vegetables, fish, and chicken, and only eating red meat, nuts, and cheese on occasion), exercise daily (even if all you do is walk for 30 minutes), and take the Serotril during those periods where you really need to knock the weight off fast. It worked for me and, by the way, you find yourself not feeling starved and tired, but satisfied, feeling great, and actually losing weight. Then, after you have lost all of the weight you want, maintain your weight by sticking to the Atkins diet and continuing to exercise daily.

Answer #31

It really is wonderful to have a question about something, enter the subject into a search engine, and learn exactly what you wanted and needed to know. This is what happened to me with Serotril. I read the glossy/slick brochure carefully and something in the back of my brain was going...hmmmm...this sounds suspiciously like St John's Wort. I faxed the company for a list of ingredients and got no response. Then I found this website and my suspicions are happily confirmed! I say happily, because I really did want to believe that this was a better product (on which I had tremendous success!), and I nearly threw caution to the wind and ordered. Thanks to your postings, I still have my hard earned money.

Answer #32

I'm a life-time dieter: the maximum dose of thyroid at age 8, straight Dexedrine from 12 to 28, starvation diets, after two weeks of the Atkins diet too weak to get out of bed. I exercise 3-5 hours a week vigorously, I regularly eat half portions, haven't had fried foods for years, know the calorie and fat count of every food by heart.

I can't lose weight on a healthy 1200 calorie a day diet because it's no real reduction from what I normally eat. My husband lost 14 pounds in the last six weeks on the identical diet (we eat all meals together). I didn't lose a pound. It was an extremely well-balanced diet and I did lose the craving for sweets that I battle all the time.

I get sick to death of all you people who bombastically assume that if only we fat people would do what you do - diet and exercise - the weight would roll off. The doctor gave me Wellbutrin and it greatly reduced my cravings, but not enough to starve again. I added Serotril to it (I couldn't find any information about whether it was dangerous to combine, so I thought I'd try it for a day or four.) The combination was so effective for me I was able to cut half portions in half, and have finally started losing.

I did try St. John's Wort before, and it didn't seem to have any effect. And I don't want to hear that calories in/calories out works the same way for everyone, and how many calories it takes to maintain your weight. The only thing that does for me is convince me how little most people, including doctors, know about weight loss and gain.
