Will creatine help me to improve my ability to do a 56Km Ultra Marathon. I have got 8 weeks left and want to start using it. I am 52 years of age and fairly fit, doing up to 80 Km a week training and I do 15 to 21Km races every second week. Do I have to do any other exercises when using creatine?
Thanks
Yves

No, Creatine has not been shown to be beneficial for athletes in endurance events. Creatine will add muscle bulk, which is great if you are a sprinter or a power lifter but not what you are looking for if you run marathons. The studies I have seen were on swimmers, and the results were that while the sprinters (ex: 50M Freestyle) did notice improvements in their performance, distance swimmers did not report better times. I assume that the results of that study would be relevant here. Logically, the Creatine might help you sprint at the finish, but I know of no studies to prove that.
