Training Question: How Can I Get Toned And Lose The 70 Pounds I Gained During A Difficult Pregnancy?

My goal is to add tone and lose the 70 lbs I gained during a difficult pregnancy. I've been looking at programs involving creatine, HMB, and protein (EAS particularly). Is this right for me although I am NOT a serious athlete with a vigorous exercise program (I walk, do hand weights, and run after an 18 month old.)? OR, are creatine and HMB best for only the most serious athletes?

Thanks for your input!

Answer #1

I wouldn't concentrate on supplements so much as other things: like for instance REGULAR EXERCISE. This could be important. Especially cardio (bike, treadmill, stair climber,etc.). I'd suggest 30 min of cardio 4 - 5 times a week followed by light weight training. This is hard work indeed - but you must be determined to take this route if you truly want the weight to come off. I had a baby 10 weeks ago and I gained 40 lbs during pregnancy. It's not fun getting up at 5:00 a.m. and going to the run to break a sweat. But I am starting to see results.

Another thing: you must not be too anxious to start losing weight. Your body needs time to heal. In addition, if you are nursing - it may be a little more difficult to start losing the inches. I've also started taking Muscle Tech's HYDROXYCUT in addition to my workout. But DON'T take it if you are nursing, and PLEASE follow the instructions on the bottle. You can get it at any health food store. Good Luck and maybe find a workout partner as a motivator.
