Training Tip: The Secret To Getting Unbelievably Ripped Is To Use Condiments On Your Food.

To get so ripped its UNBELIEVABLE ...watch your diet. Easier said than done, right?......RIGHT. No, seriously the first thing you have to believe is that you're worth it. You are or you wouldn't be reading this. Once you have that in your mind convert it into action. I am 6 1" (height) and I went from 240 pounds (muscle+fat) to 168 pounds (muscle+skin) in four months.

Is there a secret? Yes there is...belief and CONDIMENTS. No I'm not kidding. There are a variety of tasty condiments out there which, when added to otherwise "boring" foods like boiled egg whites (an excellent source of protein) turn them into tasty treats. Let me give you an example. For breakfast, I have 2 boiled eggs without the yolks (only egg-whites). Ordinarily, boiled egg white tastes like plastic, but with a sprinkling of Seasoned Salt or Boar's Head Brand Deli Mustard they are actually quite tasty and guess what?... most condiments carry little or no calories.

Boil your food and avoid the use of fat (for frying etc). For lunch I have boiled chicken or beef...boiled? yechhh! tasteless, right?.....WRONG. Add Texas Pete's Hot Sauce and you got a tasty entree. Boil vegetables, add condiments and broccoli....ugh becomes broccoli...mmmmmm, bring it on! Believe in yourself and believe in condiments and BELIEVE ME you will get so ripped....so soon (naturally) that you will find veins popping up in places you didn't know you even had. Not to blow my own trumpet, but I got so ripped using this "diet" that veins started appearing on my abdomen like professional body builders.

It is a little hard for me to believe that you have gained so much benefit from ONLY using condiments on your food. Have you been working out more than you usually do or doing anything else that might contribute to your "incredible effects" as you claim?

Response #2

I definitely agree with you that condiments are an excellent "secret." I too am on a high-protein, low-fat, low-carb, and unfortunately low-taste diet. The diet requires you to boil your foods to drop fat intake from oils and the "trick" is condiments to add taste to otherwise bland food. Remember though, condiments help but in the end it is belief and will-power that will see you through. Don't binge out or lose sight of your goal, whatever it is. Stay focused and stay true.

Response #3

Extreme low-fat diets actually do more harm to your pursuit of a ripped body than good. No fat in your diet causes the body to go into a fat deprived state and you will actually find it much harder to lose the last 7% of fat. This is not really relevant to people who want a b.f.l. of around 15%, but it is very relevant for the competition runners who need fat levels of around 4% - 7%. These levels are hard to maintain without other certain "supplements."

Response #4

Be careful boiling your vegetables! When you boil them in water, 70%-80% of the nutrients are "boiled" out. If you don't believe me then the next time you boil some vegetables look at the color of the water when you are through. Carrots will turn the water orange, broccoli will turn the water green and so on. What you are seeing is the nutrients of your vegetables. Try steaming them in a sealed pot. You will seal in the nutrients and moisture and you will taste a difference!

I wholeheartedly agree that condiments make my very restrictive diet palatable. I'm not a mustard fan (except with tuna or salmon), but the only way I can eat hard boiled egg whites every morning is if I add a little bit of salsa. I also add a sprinkle of garlic powder to practically everything. And oatmeal can only be breakfast if a packet of Equal is included.

This a response to response #4. Vegetables can be cooked in the microwave or zoom sort of steamer. It depends on the diet you are on, be it low carb, low fat, or high protein, low carb and low fat. The bottom line is that you need to stay with natural foods. Poultry and vegetables make up most of a diet that only allows boiled food. If you're lucky and actually like seafood then a treat might be a lobster or shrimp, etc. Use condiments with these things and it isn't so awful. I personally like a form of chicken soup with boiled chicken and its broth. Let it boil until the chicken is nice and cooked to where you can pull it apart easily. Add vegetables (steamed), a little pepper, seasoned salt, onion powder, garlic powder and voila, it's a tasty dinner.

Response #7

I whole-heartedly agree with this submission. I lost 50 lbs, with no diet pills or any special diet or formulation, in about 4 months. I can't say I got "ripped" because I'm female and that wasn't the look I was going for. I weight trained and did cardio at least 6 days per week. The results were fabulous. I lost the weight quicker than I would recommend to others and my method was extreme. But I have suffered no ill side effects from it since it was done without drugs and stimulants.

I consumed nothing "white" so my carb level and fat level were very low. I am also vegetarian so my protein intake wasn't particularly high. I ate green vegetables, salads and an occasional veggie burger. I supplemented with vegetarian protein powder and had fat free smoothies for breakfast.

What the original tip was referring to was alleviating the boredom you experience with the food, which could lead you away from your original plan. I ate so much broccoli over that initial period of weight loss that I thought I was going to turn green! But I've found ways to make it so enjoyable. You can add soy sauce, teriyaki (within reason because of carbs), marinara sauce to the steamed veggies. I also use soup starters or cream of whatever soup from health food stores (always read the label for carb/fat/cal info) and add fresh steamed/boiled veggies to it. And once you have your weight in control, add a little skim-milk shredded cheese and make a thin/light cheese sauce. It's still low fat and high on the flavor meter.

Salads are great, but skip the salad dressing! Always, always, always ask for it on the side (or not at all). Get salads with flavor! Greek salad is great because the feta cheese and onions are flavor packed. Salads with nuts (not seeds), fruit and cheeses like gorganzola are great. And if it still isn't enough, use as little dressing as possible. Cheese is low in carbohydrates, but higher in fat so if you are restricting fat intake this will give your body the fat it needs. Skip traditional dinner salads loaded with cheddar and other tasteless cheese. And if you can't imagine salad without the Ranch dressing, make a choice. Cheese or salad dressing (on the SIDE).

A bonus tip: Drop Water Weight-Gain FAST! I did this right after the holiday season. I drank a 12 oz. cup of water for every waking hour (or 1/2 hour) of the day. It's very manageable to break it down this way. So I had a minimum of 12 glasses (144 oz.) for 2-3 days. I'm back to consuming about 72 oz. per day on average (my personal daily goal is to have nine 12oz. glasses or 108 oz. per day). Anyway, between the course of Thanksgiving and New Years I'm sure I'd gained at least 5 lbs. When I weighed myself the day after New Years Day, I had lost the 5 pounds and an additional 5 lbs I had before the big eating season. I know this was only water weight, but what a relief and a nice flush for your body!
