Consumer Review: Xenadrine Has Done Absolutely Nothing For Me In The 5 Days Since I Started Taking It.

Okay this is the deal. I have been on Xenadrine 5 days now and have been exercising my butt off (unfortunately that's only a pun), eating low fat foods. I have even been writing everything down. I also started drinking a fat free, sugar free whey protein shake right after my workouts. The problem is I am not seeing any weight loss. I read about people loosing 10 pounds in a week or 40 in 2 months and at the rate I'm going, I'll be amazed if I lose 10 pounds in a month.

Here are my stats: 28 years old, female, 5'2", 148lbs and would like to loose a least 30 poundsin about 10 weeks. That's one of the reasons I bought Xenadrine...to lose the weight fast. What am I doing wrong. Please help, I am becoming very frustrated. Any info would be great.

I also used Xenadrine for an extended period of time and actually gained 8 pounds. I exercised and ate a low fat, low carb diet. I then started taking Hydroxycut and lost 9 pounds in one week. Give it a try, but start slow!

I started taking Xenadrine with one tablet twice daily for the first six days or so, then increased to two tablets twice daily after that. Now total, I've been on Xenadrine for 16 days as of today. I also take a 100% Whey Protein shake with one shake in the morning "with my Xenadrine and maybe a Vitamin C tablet-1000mg" and one later, before or after dinner then another an hour or three before bedtime along with something to eat like tuna or turkey etc. I work out mostly before bedtime on my machine (Nordic Flex--I know it's kind of old, but cost me $1600 in its day) with the shake before the workout.

GETTING TO THE POINT HERE...I haven't really noticed any kind of weight loss "on the scale." But Whey protein specifies on the bottle that it's not for weight reduction. Xenadrine specifies it thermogenicly destroys the fat while leaving lean muscle tissue behind, while Whey protein is a dairy-based source of amino acids (protein building blocks). Whey protein provides the body with several amino acids including leucine, isoleucine, and valine, the branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) needed for the maintenance of muscle tissue. Consuming more protein causes protein synthesis to occur. My theory is to use Xenadrine to burn fat while leaving lean muscle tissue. Use Whey protein to grow and strengthen muscle tissue at the same time. YOU PROBABLY WONT SEE A BIG DIFFERENCE IN ACTUAL WEIGHT, but you should see a difference in the way you look (fat percentage, etc.). IF ANYONE HAS ANY COMMENTS ABOUT THIS, POST THEM. I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU!

Justine, 5 days? Get over it. You're not going to see anything in 5 days. This has less to do with the supplement and more to do with your own psychology here. Are you thinking that in 5 days you're going to see results? Most studies support that the most a person can lose is 1 pound of fat a week, the rest is loss through water or muscle. If you want to lose 30 pounds of fat, you need to give yourself a lot longer than you are thinking.

I really like what xenadrine does for me. I do lose weight and I do feel better when I am taking it. Today I read in the paper that it has been shown that it has some nasty side effects...heart attacks, strokes, etc. I'm nervous about continuing taking it. I can't even really believe I'm considering it, but that's how much I like it. Any comments on this from anyone?

Listen--the first thing you need to do is stop worrying about how much weight you want to lose. Take that energy and put it into a really tough workout. Working out on a regular basis, this means strength and cardio training, and eating healthy will have you seeing results, not just taking some supplement alone. It also doesn't happen overnight--you have to be strict and want to do it. It takes time to shape your body. It's like you have to train it a certain way, to fit your body type. Fitness is a life long commitment. That is the way to think and act.

Dear Justine,

Xenadrine is a supplement, not a magic wand! I know you are anxious to lose the weight, but there are a few realistic things you must consider. "Easy come easy go" and vice versa! Now, if you lose too much at once, believe me, it's too good to be true and you either are losing muscle, water, etc. Or, once off the product, you'll gain it all back.

I don't think you should switch to hydroxycut like one guy posted earlier because I've been on it for a month, and while the product does work, it's not what the media has it "cut up to be." I've just got on xenadrine 3 days ago, and sure I have not seen instant results either, but the lift in energy is definitely there. Now sure, you don't want energy, you want fat burning, but 1 + 1 =2. Once you get energy, you will be more active in and out the gym and your metabolism will increase, and before you know it...you'll get leaner.

Xenadrine in my opinion is far (I mean faaaar) better than hydroxycut. So don't switch supplements. Switch your way of thinking. Be patient. True, the ads claim insane results, and though you may have not gotten the same as the guys on the mags, you shouldn't give up because I'm sure this stuff will work.

Another important factor, which another person mentioned, was you are shooting for fat loss not weight loss. So don't focus too much on your scale, focus in your mirror. It (unlike the scale) never lies! And whey protein, I know for a fact will thicken you up. If you want that, OK. But if you want Cosmo-like body, stay away from it. Just eat well. I take designer whey protein because I want to get thick and I'm a guy. And while it wont make you fat, it will give you density and will keep your weight up on the scale.

Also remember that xenadrine also preserves muscle mass, so you will shed fat while retaining (in some cases gaining) muscle. So you may get the same weight, but your muscle to fat ratio will be a different ball game. Use the mirror. It shows your true colors. And to end this long story...I look at it this way. Lose 2lbs a week, maybe 2.5. Now 2.5 times 4 = 10lbs in a month. So in three months 30lbs girl! Is that not good? And you don't have to be strictly dieting either. Just cut the junk and sodas and be patient. Good luck!

Hi Justine. After those first 6 responses, I truly hope you'll keep reading to get to this one. It's odd, I think, that out of all the obviously intelligent answers you've received, no one has caught the fact that you are eating very low fat/no fat foods. It says right here in this site it is very important to keep a healthy fat balance flowing through your body systems. When your body senses a drop in these necessary fat levels, it automatically thinks you are starving and it and refuses to give any of it up. Just remember the old nutritional triangle we all learned in high school, then keep up your exercise and supplement program and you'll probably see greater success. Why do you think so many diets fail?

One book (that I do not represent) that will give you some great insight into this is Dr. Atkins diet book. Read the section on resistant weight loss. It explains it in detail and makes sense. But don't go off on that one diet either. I've done it twice in a number of years. It takes the weight off fast if you can stand the restrictions, but comes back fast too! Stick to xenadrine and, as mentioned by others, we are all different so monitor levels to your needs, but EAT SENSIBLY!

Nothing will cause instant fat loss, as this takes a lot of time. I used to weight 269 and now have cut down my weight to 220, with xenadrine and various other supplements, in about 4 months. Taking these and lifting avidly every day, alternating body parts, has helped me gain the muscle I want. I learned that eating food with a lot of protein helps, but not to the extreme. You need fat in your diet.

Fat loss, or weight loss in general, takes a lot of hard work and you won't see results instantly. Give your body a couple of months, and you will see the difference. Cut down on the sodas, if possible don't drink any. Water is a lot better. I drink about 3-4 gallons of water a day and have great results. Just remember that losing weight and putting on the desired muscle takes a lot of time. Xenadrine has helped me achieve this, but only in the sense that it depressed my appetite for the potato chips and various other foods that I used to eat. It is alright to lift every day, but make sure you are alternating the muscle groups so they have time to recover.

Responses 6 and 7 are right on, Bullseye! Don't use the scale. Rely on a mirror if you have to look. Better yet, look in the mirror once every 10 days. Increase your fat intake using a ratio that meets your needs. For example, of your total calories for the day, consume 30% as protein, 50% as carbs, and 20% as fat. If you consume 4000 calories per day (that's probably to much for you), then you now have 30% protein of those 4000 calories. 1200 calories divided by 4=300 grams of protein. One scoop of designer protein=17 grams of protein, a chicken breast is about 30 grams of protein, and 1 cup of non-fat cottage cheese is about 11-14 grams of protein. Carbs at 50% of 4000 calories=2000 calories, divided by 4=500 grams per day divided among 6 meals.

SO, have about 80 grams of carbs each meal. Fat at 20% of 4000 calories=800 calories, divided by 9=88 grams of fat, divided by 6 meals per day gives you about 14-15 grams of fat each meal. Just as response #7 said, you need fat or your body will do it without your help and conserve it because it knows you have cut it down to a certain level.

Lift 3 times a week, even if just for 20-30 minutes. Run the other 3 days of the week for 20 minutes or so using the Xenadrine. Give yourself TIME. Decide after 6 weeks or 8 weeks. Everyone gives up if the results aren't immediate. The fact is they didn't put on the weight they're trying to get rid of in 5 days either. Xenadrine absolutely does give up more energy lifting weights. Stay on the one capsule twice per day until you feel you can handle the 4 capsules a day.

Too many people abuse the product by thinking that if they increase the dosages they will get the results quicker, The fact is the companies who make the products spend lot of money determining the most effective results with the right dosage. Write this down on paper :"I know and believe I will lose 30 lbs in the next 10 weeks. I believe I'm getting leaner and more muscular each day." Read it from the PAPER before going to bed and when waking up. You will build faith in the message and in yourself and you'll reach a point that no one will change your mind. That's why you've probably heard this, "YOUR FAITH WILL HEAL YOU." What you believe, IS. If you tell yourself or you let others tell you, "What if that or this..." or put any kind of fear in you, guess what? You lost faith. DO it!

To everyone that is talking good and bad about xenadrine: I am 19 years old and I just want to say that xenadrine has been working for me. Like most people say, it's not a magic pill, but it does aid you in your weight loss plan.

I say xenadrine on my list of weight loss factors is number 3. Number 1 is of course exercise, which is for me running, dancing, the bike, and just being active. Number 2 is my diet...high protein, low low carbs, no saturated fat, only mono and poly fats because they help in losing weight. I never take carbs after 3:00 PM. The only time I have carbs is in the morning and at lunch. You can eat anything in the morning because your body has just awakened with an empty stomach and it needs energy to get you going for the day, so your body quickly burns up the food in your stomach. Then as the day goes on, you shorten your meals because you will be sleeping soon. The worst thing you can do is go to bed with food that contains carbs and fat in your stomach. For dinner, don't eat pasta or rice or whatever. Eat greens and protein, but not red meat because that has a lot of fat.

Anyway, it's all in your diet and exercise. Xenadrine does help. It helped me go from 172 to 160 in body weight in one month. It worked for me and it will work for you.

Dear Justine,

There are a couple of things you should keep in mind when evaluating your body's response to Xenadrine, or any other thermogenic compound.

First, the results advertised by the manufacturer were most likely done to volunteers who trained and dieted in a controlled environment, combining a properly regulated dietary intake, cardio-respiratory and muscular training, and supplementation. They achieved optimal results because they had the optimal conditions. Most people in the real world do not have the optimal conditions (i.e. proper rest, correct training techniques, adequate dietary intake, etc.) So you should be careful when measuring yourself against these idealized results.

Second, Xenadrine is a compound that uses the additive effects of various stimulants aimed at increasing the body's basal metabolic rate. In other words, Xenadrine causes your body both to oxidize fat (triglycerides) as a fuel source, and to do so at a much greater rate than it would under normal conditions. The problem is that the human body rapidly adapts to the effects of stimulants. So if you are a big coffee drinker or a smoker, your body may not react as powerfully to Xenadrine than someone who does not regularly consume stimulants. That is also why thermogen users should cycle on and off to deny the body the opportunity to adapt. In weight training, this principle is known as periodization, but it is generally the same with stimulants. The longer you use them, the less your body reacts to them over time.

And third, if your muscles were untrained prior to using Xenadrine, your exercise may lead to some form of muscle hypertrophy (size increase). Though you generally would not see a chronic increase in muscle size and density until 6-8 weeks of steady resistance training, the intake of added protein (even low fat protein) will ultimately lead to increased muscle mass.

Consider this. Due to a lower back injury in 1995, I stopped playing football. I also stopped any sort of training for nearly 5 years. About 4 months ago, I weighed 250 pounds and had a body fat percentage of 24 percent. After strength and cardio-respiratory training for the past 4 months, eating reasonable meals every 2-3 hours, consuming 1-2 gallons of water a day, cycling Xenadrine, and supplementing my diet with whey protein an anti-catabolic amino acid that prevents muscle loss and aids in recovery, I now weigh 261 pounds. Yes, I gained 11 pounds using a thermogenic...but my body fat percentage is now 15.4%. In other words, I lost about 20 pounds of fat and gained about 30 pounds of muscle. I look quite different...my pants are very loose in the waist, my shirts are tight in the arms, and I feel much better about myself. So weight is a very poor judge of physique.

Last, I want you to think about your goal of losing 30 pounds of fat in 10 weeks. One pound of fat contains 3500 calories of energy. 30 pounds of fat is approximately 105,000 calories of stored energy on your body. To eliminate this surplus of energy from your body in 10 weeks (70 days), you must burn an extra 1500 calories per day. Based on your statistics (and depending on the model you use), the average daily caloric expenditure of a 28 year old woman of 62 inches in height and 148 pounds is between 2000 and 2100 calories per day. (Basal metabolism is directly related to muscle mass on your body. Hence, gaining muscle weight will actually HELP you burn more fat.) In essence, you must increase your caloric expenditure to 3500-3600 calories per day (which is the approximate metabolism of a man with 220 pounds of lean muscle on his body, at rest).

Xenadrine will get you part of the way there. But you MUST exercise, and you must continue to eat a healthy diet. And it certainly helps to pack on some muscle, since muscle is what uses energy to move.

In short, Justine, you are not doing anything wrong. Those advertisements are not always fair. Just keep on working hard toward your goal. And read as much as you can about how the human body really works. That way, you can set realistic goals and keep from wanting to give up when the real world doesn't measure up to the magazine ad. Justine,

I would like to start by saying this. I have not spoken to you face to face, so I can't say how serious you are. First, remember a pill will not work on its own...and one certain supplement will not work for everybody. The best advice I can give is this. Xenadrine does work for most of my customers (by the way, I manage a GNC). I said "most." That means most of the people that have tried it were happy with the results. I'd say 80% of my customers were happy, but everybody reacts differently to it.

There are a lot of reasons why you're getting the results you're getting. You haven't given it a chance. The results you read about are usually very rare. Remember it's an advertisement, but that doesn't mean it won't work. Also, it sounds like you have restricted yourself too quickly in calories. If you were eating hamburgers, pizza and cake last week and are eating chicken breasts and drinking protein drinks like there's no tomorrow this week, your body is not going to be used to that. Taper your calories, follow the directions on the supplement bottle, be consistent on taking your supplements and on your workouts, try doing cardio first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, and most importantly, when you don't feel like working out, GO WORK OUT!

You have to be patient. There is no such thing as fast weight loss. I'm sorry, no matter what you read, that's reality. You're retraining your body to run differently. That takes time, but it can be done. Also remember I said it worked for most people, not all. Give it a month. If you don't see any results, then you know for certain it's not for you, and you should try something else. Someone suggested hydroxycut. That's a good supplement also and might be the one for you. Basically, start slow in your goals and in your workouts. Inform yourself by reading books on what you want to do and not by advertisements and by what other people have tried. Judge for yourself what works for you and what does not. You are a individual and should start thinking that way.

I've lost 7lbs. while taking Xenadrine in 2 weeks. Although your scale may not show weight loss, your figure will look different pretty quickly. Your stomach may look flatter or your arms may look slimmer, just give it a month and you will see a difference. Drink LOTS of water too.

I have found that the best results with Xenadrine have come with taking 2 in the morning about 30 min. before my workout (I go to the gym at 5:30 am). In addition to lifting, doing cardio on an empty stomach with the Xenadrine seems to enhance fat burning. Not everyone can take the Xenadrine in the morning without food. If that is the case, eat a bagel before working out.

Another key is to drink as much water as you can handle. I mean all day long. Pretend that Dansi water bottle is glued to your hand. When its empty, fill it up and keep drinking.

I take 2 more Xenadrine either right before or after lunch. I have found that Xenadrine takes away any cravings I may have for snacks (I love chocolate) after or in between meals.

I keep drinking water. I do not take any Xenadrine after 2 pm because I like to go to sleep at a reasonable hour. That's it. No More Than 4 A Day!! I restrict my carb intake also and my dinner is a small meal with protein and veggies.

Xenadrine is not a quick fix. You cannot eat poorly and still cut fat. I really believe taking it on an empty stomach and doing cardio is the ticket. Eat right, drink tons of water and do that for a month, and I fell certain you will lose weight. I also agree the mirror is better than the scale.

For what its worth, this is my first post. I am interested in any feedback.
