Consumer Review: I Developed A Heart Murmur And Extreme Fatigue After Taking Xenadrine.
I started taking Xenadrine to lose stubborn weight a year after having a baby. It worked great - I lost 17 pounds in about 2-1/2 months, but that was combined with eating better and a renewed running program. I started with the half-dose as recommended, then increased as my tolerance to it seemed OK. I quit after 12 weeks as the bottle instructed, but was afraid of gaining back during the holidays, so I started again after only 2 weeks off. I did another 8 weeks, then quit because of chest pains and fears after reading numerous articles (about other supplements - not Xenadrine specifically).
Now I'm scheduled to see a cardiologist because my allergy doctor
noticed a pronounced heart murmur last week and I am so fatigued
I can barely function! I think I am suffering withdrawal symptoms
that will hopefully fade as my metabolism returns to normal, but
since I've never had heart problems before, this new murmur scares
me to death! Remember the heart valve damages caused by those
diet pills? I would only recommend those who are really overweight
use this product, and only after consulting a doctor! I also started
having severe itchiness on my arms and chest, which has not stopped
yet. If anyone had similar experiences, PLEASE respond. IF THIS
SUPPLEMENT IS DANGEROUS, OTHERS NEED TO KNOW!

Unfortunately, one of the biggest side effects of Xenadrine's
active stimulant ingredients comes after you stop taking it. If
you take it for a long enough period of time, your body develops
a dependency for it. When you first go off it, there have been numerous
cases of feeling overly fatigued, lacking the ability or desire
to get out of bed and function. This can get so bad that many people
feel the only way to operate normally again is to reach back for
the drug. Only now the body has become almost immune to it, and
to function normally you must increase the dosage. A never-ending
pattern begins. The best thing to do is to get off it and fight
through the fatigue, listlessness and apathy. Eventually you will
function normally.
There is no doubt that this product will arm you with an enhanced
sense of energy, especially if you have never taken a stimulant-based
product. I started taking a product years ago called "up your
gas" which has strong stimulants in it. When I began taking
it, I was overweight and could barely run a mile. The energy it
gave me turned me into a lean marathoner. However, I am now addicted
to it. I have become completely dependent on it. On days that I
don't take it, I can't even move. And trust me, it is physical,
not mental.
My advice is this. If you want to use the product combined with diet and exercise, fine. But NEVER exceed the recommended dosage. If you do, not only will your body become dependent on it, but it will become dependent on the increased dosage. And, just like any other addiction, to achieve the desired effect, you'll have to increase your dosage. Again, this will place you in a never-ending cycle. Once you lose your weight, get off it slowly. Start decreasing your dosage so eventually your are not taking it at all. Once you are in shape and working out, you will be so addicted to the feeling of looking great, that you won't let yourself "slip."
